My Art journey has been an inspiring way of discovering the hidden beauty in everything and everyone that I set my eyes upon. And after a long time waiting, I am welcoming art back into my life on a much deeper level.

Once I started painting with the Nell St Painters in 2008, I discovered under the guidance of Nell Frysteen, the ability to express my love of nature and beauty in a variety of subjects. The different techniques and experiences offered in class have contributed in cultivating my own interests and further development in my art. We observe one another’s progress being testament to our constant growth in this field.

Oil is my preferred form of painting but since I was introduced to pastel, it has enabled me to find another medium in which to express myself. With the constant urge to do better, I find myself alternating from oil to pastel to pencil and enjoying the surprises as I bask in the meditative state of creativity.

Exhibitions and commissioned work have certainly increased my confidence at a level that has enabled me to produce art for my own exhibition. This exhibition, ‘On Reflection’ was shared with a fellow artist and exhibited in September and October 2010.

In preparation for this exhibition, I found myself drawn to portraiture and produced my version of Blessed Mary MacKillop. It’s humbling to announce that I have been awarded a copyright title from the Mary MacKillop Foundation in Sydney, for this painting of Australia’s first saint. It has been named, ‘St Mary– Holder of Hopes.’

And so, the journey continues with mystery and much joy.
